CALCE Black Derby – Box Calf

The CALCE black Derby is built for a lace-up that earns its keep across different contexts — a client meeting, a civil ceremony, a considered Friday at the office. The Derby (open-lacing, as opposed to the closed-lacing Oxford) is the more forgiving silhouette of the two: it sits with a wider range of trousers and suits without looking overdressed or underdressed.

This reference uses box calf and full-grain leather on the upper, with a leather sole underfoot. Box calf is a fine-grain calfskin with a tight, burnished surface — it ages well, polishes cleanly, and holds its shape over years of regular use. The leather sole gives a firm, responsive feel and improves with wear.
